Description

Specially Engineered for Thriving Shrimp Colonies Nisso Custom Shrimp Soil is a premium aquarium substrate manufactured in Japan, renowned for its high-quality standards and innovative design. It is specifically formulated to create an optimal environment for shrimp and aquatic plants, naturally lowering pH and softening water to create a slightly acidic environment ideal for shrimp vitality.

What makes the Shrimp variant different from the Plant variant?

  1. Enhanced Montmorillonite: Formulated with higher levels of montmorillonite clay, which releases essential trace minerals into the water to actively support shrimp molting and vibrant coloration.
  2. Protective Mixed-Grain Sizing: The pellets are specifically blended in varying sizes to prevent baby shrimp and powdered shrimp food from falling into deep crevices and getting trapped.

Key Features:

  • Ultra-Low Ammonia: Releases less than 0.25 ppm of ammonia during the first week, making it significantly safer for sensitive shrimp than heavy nutrient soils.
  • Bentonite Clay Inclusion: Incorporating bentonite clay, the soil pellets function as sponges, absorbing excess nutrients and fostering beneficial bacterial growth.
  • Minimal Cloudiness: The substrate’s composition helps maintain clear water by minimizing cloudiness, allowing for immediate use without pre-washing.

Important Usage Instructions (Direct from the Manufacturer):

  • Do Not Wash: Pour directly into the tank. Rinsing will damage the clay pellets and cause cloudiness.
  • Do Not Cap: Use as a standalone substrate. Capping with sand or gravel will block its pH-buffering abilities.
  • Lifespan: Replace every 6 to 12 months to maintain active buffering. Do not top up over old, exhausted soil.

Size Guide:

  • 1kg Bag: Suitable for small aquariums or as a top layer in larger setups.
  • 3kg Bag: Ideal for medium-sized tanks, providing adequate coverage and depth.
  • 8kg Bag: Designed for large aquariums or for those requiring a substantial substrate layer
