Extremely quiet, universally compatible, and comfortable to use – this is the FZN PRO cascade filter. Its capacious media container can be filled with convenient, ready-to-use cartridges or fully customized to your specific requirements. Thanks to a number of user-friendly features, operating it is a pure pleasure.
The FZN PRO is the latest addition to the Aquael portfolio of cascade filters. It is ideally suited for various types of tanks, from nano aquariums and shrimp tanks to larger setups of up to 300 liters. It is also a great choice for small marine aquariums, where the cascading water creates a natural wave motion, imitating the sea.
A Filter Adapted to You
We have included a number of features that make using the FZN PRO filter an effortless experience.
- No Priming Needed: Don’t like waiting for a filter to start? With the FZN PRO, you won’t have this problem. Because the motor is submerged, the filter starts working immediately without needing to be primed with water beforehand.
- Automatic Restart: Are you worried that a power outage will stop your filter from restarting? The FZN PRO restarts automatically when power is restored, immediately resuming the purification of your tank water. Thanks to the secure, submerged motor, even long power interruptions are no problem for this filter.
- Telescopic Intake: The telescopically adjustable suction tube allows you to precisely adapt the filter to any tank depth. Adjust the water intake level to match the substrate height in your aquarium. This is especially useful for aquariums with unusual dimensions.
- Adjustable Flow Rate: Adjust the filter’s performance to suit your needs. We placed a large, comfortable control knob on top of the housing, allowing you to smoothly fine-tune the filter’s flow rate.
- Precise Positioning: You can perfectly adjust the filter’s position on your tank. A convenient, rounded regulator allows you to precisely set the angle of the filter on the aquarium rim.
- Slim Profile: Despite the large volume of the filter media container, the housing is slim and does not take up much space. The portion of the housing outside the tank is only 9.5 cm thick.
Quiet as a Whisper
Aquael designers have ensured that the FZN PRO filter operates as quietly as possible. The sound generated by the largest filter in the family is only 32 dB – as quiet as a whisper. The well-thought-out design ensures maximum noise suppression:
- The filter outlet is angled towards the water’s surface, so the flowing water creates a gentle, pleasant murmur. Forget about bubbling or loud splashing.
- The motor is placed underwater, which provides natural sound insulation.
- All points of contact between the filter housing and the aquarium glass are fitted with rubber dampeners. This reduces vibrations from the operating device and eliminates any tapping or rattling.
- Linear vents on the top of the housing reduce the internal “resonance tube” effect and improve gas exchange.

Don’t want to spend a lot of time on aquarium maintenance? Take advantage of the simplicity offered by our ready-made filter cartridges.
You can easily lift out the basket with dedicated cartridges to clean or replace them. Depending on the filter model, it will contain 1 to 6 modular containers for filter cartridges:
- FZN PRO 400 – 1 tray
- FZN PRO 700 – 2 trays
- FZN PRO 1000 – 4 trays
- FZN PRO 1500 – 6 trays
Simply open the containers and insert the cartridge with your selected filter media. You can choose from 3 types of carefully developed, interchangeable cartridges:
- Standard: For effective all-around filtration.
- CarboMax: To ensure crystal-clear water.
- PhosMax: To limit the growth of algae.

Use the capacious filter chamber to add any bulk filter media of your choice. For example, you can arrange them in layers as in a typical canister filter. Feel free to use any of our wide range of filter media products.

Safety First and Foremost
The FZN PRO filter is created entirely from non-corrosive materials, ensuring it is safe and durable. Whether you have a freshwater aquarium or prefer saltwater tanks, the FZN PRO filter is an excellent choice.
Some users worry about hoses leaking on filters placed outside the aquarium, even though the risk is minimal. The FZN PRO filter completely eliminates this possibility. Thanks to its hang-on-back design, water cannot leak outside the tank.
The energy-efficient motor requires minimal power. The largest filter in the family, the FZN PRO 1500, runs on only 13 W of power, saving you money on your electricity bill.
Crystal Clear Surface
If your aquarium requires it, the filter can be outfitted with an optional, compatible skimmer. It will effectively clean the water’s surface, leaving it crystal clear. The skimmer removes dust particles, organic films, and plant debris after pruning, which will be especially appreciated by owners of open-top tanks and aquascapers.
It should be noted that the skimmer does not require an additional power source. Simply mount it on the intake tube with one easy motion. It features a smooth adjustment so its floating weir will always be at the correct level. If you do not need the skimmer, you can disconnect it without affecting the filter’s functionality.
Aquael Tip: Worried that the skimmer will remove fish food before your fish can eat it? You don’t have to remove the FZN PRO’s skimmer during feeding time. Just twist its upper section to raise it above the water’s surface. This will temporarily stop it from skimming. At any time, simply lower the top part to allow the device to begin collecting surface debris again.
Easy Cleaning and Service
From now on, cleaning your filter will be a breeze. With a simple twist of the motor lock, you can access the impeller. You can easily service or clean the impeller of any debris. The same applies to the filter media.
With one motion, you can lift the media trays out of the filter, rinse them or replace the cartridges, and place them back in the chamber. Your hands will be free because the lid won’t get in your way—it opens easily and can be conveniently propped up against the back of the filter housing.
Aquael Tip: The capacious media chamber gives you freedom of use. You can fill part of it with a properly cut sponge and your choice of chemical media, arranging them in layers as you see fit. The remaining space can be filled with cartridges, which can be removed in one move thanks to their convenient handles. For example, you can use a carbon cartridge, which can be easily removed after its effective life without disturbing the other biological media.
